UPSC has concluded UPSC Prelims Exam 2020 today. The examination was conducted in two slots- Paper I was conducted from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and Paper II was conducted from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Candidates who have appeared for the preliminary exam can check the UPSC Prelims Question Paper 2020 here.

IAS Paper I comprises of 100 questions of 2 marks each in the objective MCQ format. This is not qualifying in nature but is very important to reach cut-off marks.

The cut off marks or minimum marks varies from 90 to 110. Every year the cut of marks varies and this variation in cut-off marks is due to the dynamic nature of the paper. All aspirants can check the complete IAS Paper I here easily.

This year around 6 lakh students had registered for the UPSC Prelims examination. UPSC exam was conducted as per SOPs issued by the Health Ministry.

Candidates were allowed to carry the following things inside the examination hall- Face Mask, Hand sanitizer, Water bottle, Photo ID, Black ballpoint pen, Admit Card, and Simple wristwatch.

All aspirants had to follow COVID19 norma of ‘social distancing as well as ‘personal hygiene’ inside the Examination Halls/Rooms.

UPSC Civil Services Exam 2020 was conducted after a lot of controversy to postpone the exams amid the pandemic. However, in the Supreme Court hearing on September 30 regarding the conduct of the UPSC prelims exam, the apex court has ordered UPSC to conduct the exam and had conceded requests for considerations on age limit and last attempt.

In the order, it has mentioned that an extra attempt is sought for the ones who are taking the last attempt as they might not able to appear due to the pandemic.

Moreover, the Commission had said that concessions regarding age may only be made for those who are on their last attempt and/or are about to cross the age-limit and could not be made available to others to which the apex court agreed.
