Olympic Wrestler Sushil Kumar has been arrested in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium fight that pointed to the death of a wrestler, Sagar Rana.
On Sunday morning, Wrestler Sushil Kumar arrested in Delhi. The police have also arrested Sushil Kumar’s associate, Ajay Kumar, who had been accompanying the wrestler ever since Sagar Rana’s murder.
A 23-year-old wrestler Sagar Rana died and his two friends got injured badly after they were allegedly brutally assaulted by other wrestlers, including Sushil Kumar, inside Chhatrasal Stadium in the northern part of the city on the intervening night of May 4.
Olympic Wrestler Sushil Kumar Arrested In Delhi In The Murder Case Of Wrestler Sagar Rana
On Sunday, a team of Special Cell SR led by Inspector Shivkumar, Inspector Karambir and supervised by ACP Attar Singh arrested Sushil Kumar and Ajay from Delhi’s Mundka area.
The two of them were arrested while on their way to meet someone on a scooter.
According to the police, the brawl between Sushil Kumar and Ajay (now arrested), Prince, Sonu, Sagar Rana, Amit and others in the parking area of Chhatrasal Stadium on May 4.
37-year-old Sushil Kumar had been on the run since the murder of Sagar Rana following the brawl. An FIR of murder, abduction and criminal conspiracy was registered against the senior wrestler.
Last week, a Delhi Court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Sushil Kumar and six others in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl days after a lookout notice was issued against the two-time Olympic medalist in the same case.
Sushil Kumar had then filed an anticipatory bail plea filed, but it was dismissed by Delhi’s Rohini court on Tuesday.
The Delhi Police had also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to the arrest of two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl.
A reward of Rs 50,000 has also been announced for the arrest of his associate Ajay Kumar.
