Income Tax Return Due Date For FY 2019-20: The Income Tax Return Due Date For FY 2019-20 extended till31st January, 2021 for taxpayers who have to get their accounts audited and those that are required to furnish reports of international or specified domestic transactions.
For these taxpayers, the due date for payment of self assessment tax in cases where liability is below Rs. 100,000(1 lakh) has also been extended to 31st January, 2021.

“In order to provide more time to taxpayers for furnishing of income tax returns, it has been decided to further extend the due date for furnishing of income-tax returns,” the Central Board of Direct Taxes said on Saturday.
Tax audit report and report in respect of international or specified domestic transactions has also extended till December 31, the Board said.
For other taxpayers the due date of filing income tax returns and payment of self-assessment tax has been extended till 31st December.
“In order to provide relief for the second time to small and middle class taxpayers in the matter of payment of self-assessment tax, the due date for payment of self-assessment tax date is hereby again being extended,” the Board said.
The second extension in due dates for filing income tax returns comes after the first one which was given earlier this year.
The government had earlier extended the due dates for all income tax returns for the FY 2019-20 or assessment year 2020-21 to November 30, 2020 for returns that were to be filed by July 31, 2020 and October 31, 2020 for different categories. Consequently, the date for furnishing various audit reports including tax audit reports were also extended till October 31, 2020.
The due date for payment of self-assessment tax for the taxpayers that were not required to get their accounts audited was extended from July 31, 2020 to November 30, 2020 and for the auditable cases, this due date was extended by a month to November 30, 2020.
